Complex Nanophotonics Science Camp 2024<\/strong><\/span>
The Complex Nanophotonics Science Camp was held between 30th July and 2nd August 2024<\/strong> in the Cumberland Lodge, a beautiful 17th-century royal mansion in Windsor Great Park, near London. The Science Camp brought together around 60 early-career scientists in fields at the interface of photonics and complexity to openly discuss the latest research and help develop the complex nanophotonics community. Science Camp was designed for young scientists (young group leaders, post-docs and PhD students), combining plenary sessions by top speakers, invited lectures and contributions by early-career scientists, long poster sessions and evening debates. Scientific topics included nano-optics in complex systems, metamaterials and time-varying media, wave transport and mesoscopic phenomena, imaging in turbid media, deep learning and optical neural networks, quantum optics in disordered media, biomimetics in photonics, optical micromanipulation, and much more.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Summer school \u00ab\u00a0Wave Propagation and Control in Complex Media 2024 – Mesoscopic Phenomena and Applications<\/b>\u00ab\u00a0
<\/b>This regular school on waves and imaging in complex media was supported by the GDR Complexe and took place in Carg\u00e8se, Corsica, from the 15th to the 19th of April 2024. KOZWaves conference on wave science
<\/strong>The\u00a0<\/span>KOZWaves 2024<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>conference took place at the University of Otago in<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Dunedin, New Zealand, from<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Wednesday 31 January to Friday 02 February\u00a0<\/span>at the start of 2024, see<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>conference webpage<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>The conference aimed at promoting contemporary research on wave science, interdisciplinary collaborations between Australasian wave scientists, and with international researchers. It focused on advancing mathematical, numerical and experimental techniques, and modelling across the different branches of wave science, including acoustics, elasticity, optics, gravitation, seismology, and water waves among others.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>2024 also marked the 10-year anniversary of the conference.<\/span><\/p>\n

International Conference on Quantum Simulation
<\/strong>This conference, organized by Laurent Sanchez-Palencia and J\u00e9r\u00f4me Beugnon, was supported by the GDR COMPLEXE and took place at\u00a0Ecole Polytechnique\u00a0in Palaiseau (near by Paris) from the13th to the 17th of November 2023. The conference presented an up to date perspective on the thriving field of quantum simulation. The scientific program combined invited tutorial talks by prominent specialists of the field, contributed talks and poster presentations. The conference was also organized in the framework of the French network QUANTIP (Quantum Technologies in Paris Region).\u00a0More information may be found on the\u00a0conference website<\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thematic school WACO Waves in Complex Media
<\/strong>This school took place in Les Houches in September 18-29, 2023. It was co-organized by the GDR COMPLEXE and the SFO, with support from CNRS.\u00a0It consisted of general lectures on wave transport, imaging, control of waves in complex media and atomic physics (6 to 8 hours each), complemented by\u00a0shorter seminars shedding light on the most recent developments. The school was especially dedicated to PhD students, postdocs and academic or R&D researchers who wish to develop their knowledge in this domain. Website of the school<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Workshop Quantum Systems in Noronha<\/strong><\/span>
The Workshop Quantum Systems in Noronha (\u00ab\u00a0QuSys 2023\u00a0\u00bb), which will take place in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil,\u00a0November 12-17, 2023.\u00a0This workshop addresses the\u00a0dynamics\u00a0of many-body\u00a0quantum\u00a0systems,\u00a0with a focus on platforms of quantum emitters\u00a0and their use to process\u00a0quantum information.\u00a0Registration for\u00a0<\/span>posters\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>contributed talks\u00a0is already open on our website.

Workshop on Wave Localization and Many-body Localization in Quantum Information<\/strong><\/span>
This workshop, organized by Marcel Filoche, Jean-Philippe Banon and Svitlana Mayboroda, took place in Carg\u00e8se, France, on October 23-29 2022, in the frame of the Simons Collaboration on the Localization of Waves.\u00a0<\/span>The scope of the school was relatively broad, with themes such as Anderson localization, many-body localization, strongly correlated systems and quantum simulators and lectured by outstanding researchers in the field. The Workshop on Collective Scattering of Light (\u201cCoScaLi 2021\u201d) took place on September 12-17, 2021. It was organized by Mathilde Hugbart (Fouch\u00e9), Romain Bachelard and Robin Kaiser. This was an hybrid meeting with at most 30 persons for the face-to-face meeting in Porquerolles.\u00a0The workshop topics included cooperative scattering,\u00a0Anderson localization of light,\u00a0Dicke super and subradiance, mesoscopic physics with cold atoms,\u00a0Multiple scattering of light,\u00a0Ab initio models for light scattering, collective optical forces.<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019\u00e9cole INNOV-Fibre 2021 s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e du 14 au 18 juin 2021 \u00e0 Saint-Pierre d\u2019Ol\u00e9ron. Elle \u00e9tait organis\u00e9e par\u00a0 le Groupe d\u2019Int\u00e9r\u00eat Scientique GRIFON. The annual workshop of the GdR Complexe was fully held online from\u00a0Monday, November 30th, to Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020. The workshop included short scientific sessions on wave scattering in random media, light and cold atoms, fluids of light, topological photonics, imaging and wave control in complex media, photonics and nanostructures, seismic wave scattering, localization phenomena, wave statistics, random matrices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Localisation2020 conference (online)<\/strong><\/span>
The localisation2020 conference took place on\u00a0<\/span>August 24th (Mon) \u2013\u00a028th\u00a0(Fri), 2020<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>It provided an opportunity to report recent progress and discuss open problems in localisation and related fields. Usually organized in Sapporo, the <\/span>Localisation2020 was \u00a0this year held online as a virtual conference due to the Covid19 pandemic.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mini-colloquium \u00ab\u00a0Casimir Effect and Heat Transfer Advances\u00a0\u00bb (online)<\/strong><\/span>
A\u00a0special mini-colloquium\u00a0entitled \u201cCasimir Effect and Heat Transfer Advances\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>was held on<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>August 31- September 4 2020, during the international\u00a0<\/span>CMD2020GEFES conference which took place online this year.<\/span>\u00a0The colloquium was organized by M. Antezza, M. Bostr\u00f6m and S. C. Palacios.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

School on \u00ab\u00a0Anderson Localization: landscape theory and experiments with ultracold atoms\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong><\/span>
A school on Anderson Localization was held online from October 6 \u2013 10, 2020. The school was organized by T. Bourdel and P. Pelletier, in the framework of the Simons collaboration on Localization of Waves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Les Houches doctoral school \u00ab\u00a0A toolbox for quantum technologies with light and matter\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong><\/span>
This school took place at Les Houches\u00a0<\/span>from 13 September to 18 September 2020<\/span>. Topics included q<\/span>uantum optics, t<\/span>opological states, p<\/span>lasmonic quantum optics,quantum metrology, l<\/span>ight scattering in disordered media, a<\/span>rtificial atoms for quantum technologies, q<\/span>uantum optics using rydberg atoms.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Workshop on the Theory of waves in random media<\/strong><\/span>
A workshop on theoretical aspects around wave propagation in random media took place in Sheffield (UK) on 24-25 June 2020. The event brought together\u00a0<\/span>mathematicians and theoretical physicists working on multiple scattering of classical waves (acoustic, electromagnetic, \u2026) in random media such as gases, emulsions, powders, porous and polycrystalline materials to bridge the gap between communities and theoretical methods.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Summer school on interaction of light with cold atoms<\/strong><\/span>
The ICTP-SAIFR School on Interaction of Light with Cold\u00a0Atoms took place at ICTP-SAIFR at the UNESP campus in S\u00e3o\u00a0Paulo, Brazil, in September 16-27, 2019.\u00a0This school aimed at training PhD and post\u2010doc students (and selected\u00a0master\u00b4s students) in the physics of light interacting with cold\u00a0atoms, introducing them to the basics and familiarizing them with\u00a0applications in modern technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

A workshop on disorder and chaos took place in Grenoble (France), LPMMC, on November 14 and 15 2019. The workshop was organized by Sergey Skipetrov (LPMMC) Alain Joye (Institut Fourier) and Bart van Tiggelen (LPMMC).<\/span> Program of the workshop<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

A workshop on atoms and photons took place in Nice (France) on November 2019 from 5th to 7th.\u00a0This workshop brought together leading experts on cold atoms, quantum physics, nonlinear optics, light-atom interaction and related collective phenomena. <\/span>The workshop included an exceptional session at Calern and a visit of Calern observatory.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A two-week predoctoral school on interaction of light and cold atoms took place in Les Houches\u00a0from 30 September to 11 October 2019.\u00a0The course was targeted at the advanced undergraduate level and emphasizes formal lectures building on textbook knowledge. This goal meets the requirements of the Les <\/span>Houches<\/span> pre-doctoral school program. The school was intended primarily for PhD students in their first or second year.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Summer school Imaging in Wave Physics: Multi-Wave and Large Sensor Networks<\/strong><\/span>
A summer school on \u201cImaging in Wave Physics: Multi-Wave and Large Sensor Networks\u201d and supported by the GdR Complexe took place at the Institut d\u2019Etudes Scientifiques de Carg\u00e8se in Corsica on September 23rd \u2013 27th, 2019. The school was organized by A. Aubry, R. Pierrat and S. Popoff and consisted of lectures given by eminent scientists and seminars to present recent works and applications. Main topics included waves in complex media, time-reversal, multi-wave, seismic, ultrasound, speckle imaging, deep learning. The deadline for applications was June 1st, 2019. Complex Nanophotonics Science Camp<\/strong><\/span>
The 4th Complex Nanophotonics Science Camp, organized by Jacopo Bertolotti, Paloma Huidobro, Giorgio Volpe and Kevin Vynck, took place on\u00a011-14 August 2019\u00a0in the\u00a0Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park, near London. The Science Camp brought together about 60 early-career scientists working at the interface between photonics and complexity \u2013 but also journal editors, grant panellists, and industrial representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Workshop on time crystals<\/strong><\/span>
A workshop on <\/span>\u2018Time crystals and Related Phenomena\u2019 took place at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, 4-6 September 2019. The aim of the workshop <\/span>was to bring together experts and young researchers working on time crystals and periodically driven systems and to exchange knowledge and experience.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Conference \u00ab\u00a0Waves C\u00f4te d’Azur\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong><\/span>
A transdisciplinary conference on nonlinearity and disorder in wave phenomena and supported by the GdR Complexe took place in Nice, France, from 4 to 7 June, 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

Les Houches predoc school on \u00ab Light Matter Interaction in Dilute Media and Individual Quantum Systems \u00bb<\/strong><\/span>
A one week pre-doctoral school in les Houches on \u00ab\u00a0Light Matter Interaction in Dilute Media and Individual Quantum Systems\u00a0\u00bb was\u00a0organised by Quentin Glorieux, Julien Laurat and Antoine Browaeys. The school took place between april 14th and 19th 2019. It was\u00a0designed for undergraduate master students, and first and second year PhD students.<\/span><\/p>\n

A workshop on \u201cLocalization of Waves\u201d took place in\u00a0Paris, in January 9-11, 2018. The workshop was\u00a0preceded by short courses on spectral theory and mathematical approaches to localization at Institut d\u2019Optique, Palaiseau, in January 7-8, and organized by Guy David (Orsay) and Marcel Filoche (Palaiseau).
